Centa Theresa

As a writer and artist/designer, the intent here is to provide a forum for sharing creative resources: whether it be thoughts on creativity or the making and remaking of our lives through time. It could be dreams, book and movie recommendations, collaborative writing, happenings, interviews, self-coaching and writing prompts, and things I won’t know until they become manifest.

Most of my writing has first taken form in my diary. I resonate with the phrase “first thought best thought” coined by Allen Ginsberg, from the title of Chogyam Trungpa’s first collection of poems (that I admit to not having read). I do revise, however, so compulsively, at times, nothing gets passed me, and I mean, nothing. I have mostly written poems and memoir. (meta text: If I can keep it in mind that this is just taking my diary to the next step, I should be fine.)

I am drawn to hybrid forms, whether between the arts, or within one, and may appropriate from fragments, whether of text, pattern, object, or ornament. From this seemingly arbitrary collection I will assemble a new context. At times leaning toward kitsch or even (admittedly) cliche, I strive to create with enough heart that you might want to interact with the objects I make, whether it be eating from a plate I’ve made, drinking from a cup, enjoying a hand-screened print on your wall, or reading a poem I’ve written.

I intend to share about the exciting and scary process of creating an art and design boutique when some of my age group are counting their breaths toward the day when they can retire (?). I will attempt to keep a focus to my blog posts, be informative, and share images and writing (as I gain competence in this technology). Should a possible year-long art and writing project with a homeless shelter for women and children come to pass, I intend to blog regularly about that. (more about this by summer, if it happens).

This blog will help facilitate a public voice comfortable enough with itself that it won’t mind changing clothes in front of you! More will be revealed, as they say.
